Business Partnerships

South County Museum is often called a mini Sturbridge Village, and we take this as quite a compliment. Just minutes from Narragansett Bay, our quiet campus of 8 acres, 6 exhibit buildings and the Living History Farm celebrates the rural, maritime and village life of South County Rhode Island. Your business and corporate support helps SCM preserve, interpret and present this heritage; and your partnership, illustrates your commitment to this important story and our community. We thank you for your support.

Additional Support/Sponsorship Opportunities

South County Museum recognizes that philanthropy is not easy for businesses or individuals. We are always open to any and all means of support whether it be gift cards to your own business, local businesses we can shop at for supplies, or a donation of services or materials. We know you are inundated with requests, and we thank you for considering supporting South County Museum in 2017.

Kids Programs

Sponsor one of our children’s programs such as our general Museum Scavenger Hunt designed for kids 8 and over, or our Rainbow Scavenger Hunt introduced in 2016, specifically for those under 5. This year we are adding 2 new Rainbow Scavenger Hunts so each month our repeat visitors can learn something new. The Rainbow Scavenger Hunt is also produced in English and Spanish to support local school immersion programs. Any amount of sponsorship is welcome and can provide funds for printing new game boards, purchasing crafts supplies, or paying a summer intern to assist in programming.

Living History Farm

One of the most picturesque and popular aspects of South County Museum is our Living History Farm. The rural and agricultural legacy of South County Rhode Island is alive and well at SCM. Our 2 Heritage Rhode Island Red flocks are award winning and highly productive. Each year, at our annual Chick Hatch, the adorable future of the flock is celebrated. We also have 1 bunny, 4 sheep named Al, Tim, Greta and Aggie, and 3 goats, he matriarch Ada and our 2 new babies Lily and Bella. Maintenance of the farm buildings and fences, food, treats, and veterinary care for our animals are year round expenses. We welcome any monetary or material support that helps us  sustain our farm and make visible the continued viability of animal husbandry in our community.

Collections & Exhibit Sponsorship

What many people do not realize is how much it costs to preserve and display artifacts from the past. We are humbled that so many community members ask us to consider their family heirlooms for preservation. But, we are in need of funding to support that preservation. Archival boxes, climate controlled storage facilities, cataloguing, and researching, exhibiting and developing programming are costly even with dedicated volunteers. SCM’s collections cover hundreds of years and number in the tens of thousands. We are constantly working to improve our facilities, records, and exhibits to better tell the story of Rhode Island and make our collections more accessible. As we near our 85th anniversary in 2018, we ask for your assistance in preserving this legacy for the next generation. Monetary donations can be specifically directed to the management and direct care of the museum’s collections.
