A South County Museum publication November 2024 issue
Autumnal greetings!
The Metz History Exhibition Hall and our craft barns have officially closed for the 2024 season. Thank you to everyone who you visited this season, took a workshop, attended a lecture, and participated in our special events. We appreciate your support! Thank you for making the 2024 season so great.
Exhibition spaces may be closed, but there are still opportunities, workshops, and ways to get involved at South County Museum.
Keep an eye on our workshops tab as we update our winter workshop series, and check back in for our online holiday sale pop-up with items from our maker spaces.
And now for some 2024 season highlights…
We kicked off the season with a fabulous South County Museum 90th birthday celebration! Here’s to another 90 years of preserving local history and traditional craft.
July brought our annual Chick Hatch and 4th of July Celebration! Children were able to learn about our state bird, the Rhode Island Red, and carefully hold the newest members of our heritage flock.
August was filled with workshops in our maker spaces. Our student craftspeople made some stunning creations!
September brought the 38th Annual Folk Art Quilt Show. The Metz Exhibition Hall was transformed into a magical space displaying all the beautiful quilts from regional quilters.
October had a rebellious flare when we hosted a whisky tasting with the Sons of Liberty Spirits Co. Participants learned about the role of 18th century taverns in the American Revolution while sampling delicious spirits.
These are only a few of the events and happenings that made this season so special.
We look forward to seeing you and holding more educational and fun-filled events in 2025!
